6878 | Weiss Damm (Cerveza de Trigo) | Spain | Hefeweizen | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 March 2013: 330 ml test bottle from the importer. ABV is 4.8%. Cloudy golden colour, large white head. Medium strong and sweetish aroma of over-ripe bananas and cloves. Fizzy mouthfeel. Medium sweet flavour, notes of cloves and some banana again, but lacks the touch of citrussy freshness that other hefeweizens have. Still very drinkable. |

6879 | Wel Scotch | France | Lager | 3.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 250 ml bottle, bought in France. Amber colour, large off-white head. Strong sweetish aroma with notes of whisky (or rather: whisky liqueur). Flavour is very sweet and sugary, the notes of peat-smoked malts are there, but seem somehow displaced in this sugary environment. Besides the sweetness and smoked malts the beer is relatively light-bodied, without much complexity. Won’t be my favourite tipple this one, but it is not undrinkable. A 250 ml bottle is enough, though. |

6880 | Weltenburger Kloster Kellerbier Naturtrüb | Germany | Kellerbier | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken, shared with my son. ABV is 5.0%. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Malty aroma, hints of brown bread and caramel. Good mouthfeel for its ABV. Soft flavour with a nice balance between the malts and the floral and herbal hops, a hint of caramel again, but not too sweet. Might well buy again. |

Nice aroma for a golden lager: fruity and floral hops with moderate malts. The flavour is fairly malty and well rounded, some sweetness, balanced by moderate hops. Soft mouthfeel. A decent lager, well above average. |

6882 | Weltenburger Klosterbrauerei Asam Bock | Germany | Doppelbock | 4.5
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 (500 ml. bottle) Depending on the source of light, colour changes from dark brown to dark ruby. Good tan head that doesn't last very long but leaves a good lacing. Moderate aroma of oak, caramel and English pipe tobacco. Well balanced malty flavour with roast notes. Not too sweet. Roast bitterness in the aftertaste, maybe slightly too bitter/tart in the end - or maybe not. All in all a great beer! One of my favourite nightcaps. |

6883 | Weltenburger Klosterbrauerei Barock Dunkel | Germany | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.8
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Clear brown to copper coloured, large light tan head. Pleasant aroma of lightly roasted malts, caramel, chocolate and bakery (including rye bread and Danish pastry). Lightly roasted malty flavour, fairly mellow, bready notes, some caramel but not really sweet, decent hops for a dunkel. Mouthfeel could have been fuller. Moderate but pleasant aftertaste. Okay. |

Contract brewed for Weltenburger Kloster by Brauerei Bischofshof in Regensburg. Crystal clear and very pale golden colour, huge and lasting white head. Moderate sweetish aroma of flowers and honey. Smooth and soft flavour of pilsener malts, moderate fruity and honey sweetness, very moderate hops. Drinkable of course, but not very exciting. |

6885 | Weltenburger Klosterbrauerei Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel | Germany | Dunkel / Dark Lager | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger, as (Marke) Weltenburger Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel. ABV is 5.3%. Despite using the "Marke Weltenburger" label of the Bischofshof-brewed beers, and not the "Weltenburger Kloster" label of the original monastery brewery, the rear label claims that this bottle has actually been brewed and bottled in the Klosterbrauerei. BB date 21.02.08. Hazy brown beer, huge off-white head. The moderate aroma has a strange combination of brown bread / bakery and citrussy notes, hints of cloves. The flavour has malty and bready notes, again combined with citrussy / lemony notes. Relatively light bodied and easy drinking. I had it on its own, probably nice with a light meal. |

Light bodied, but there is also a subtle malty sweetness in the flavour, and moderate but distinct German hops throughout. Definitely a decent pilsener! |

6889 | Weltenburger Klosterbrauerei Winter-Traum | Germany | Vienna / Amber Lager | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.4%. Deep golden brown to amber colour, large off-white head. Moderately spicy aroma, quite nice, with some notes of bakery, also a certain fruitiness. The flavour is quite fruity but also distinctly malty, notes of toffee and mild spices, decent hops in the finish. A lager well above average! A bit too much carbonation for my taste though. |

6891 | Wensleydale Lidstones Rowley Mild | United Kingdom | Mild Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned at the 32nd Cambridge Beer Festival, as "Wensleydale Rowley Mild". Gravity dispense. Dark brown colour. Lovely aroma of dark fruits with slightly roasty notes. Flavour is moderately malty with a moderate fruity character - lacking in hops, but that’s the traditional mild for yer, mate. Not too much of a mouthfeel at 3.2% ABV, but decent enough. |

6892 | Wentworth Bumble Beer | United Kingdom | Blonde Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 500 ml brown bottle, thanks to oh6gdx and chris_o. ABV is 4.3%. Golden brownish colour, slightly hazy. Moderate white head. Floral aroma with distinct notes of heather and honey. The flavour is fairly sweet and malty but also earthy, notes of honey but not too much, and there is a distinct hoppy and resinous bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Quite interesting beer. |

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 Cask conditioned. Sampled at the Wear Valley CAMRA beer festival. (Room temperature). Pitch black. Low (natural) carbonation. Lovely aroma, smooth roast malt and coffee flavour, with some acid side notes that I'm not entirely happy about. |

6894 | Wessex Cloud 9 Cider | United Kingdom | Cider | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle from "Wessex Craft Brewers" (now Integrated Bottling Solutions), courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Sediment in the bottle, some floaties in the glass, but the cider is otherwise fairly clear. Deep golden colour. Some fizziness when poured, but no lasting head. Very nice aroma of cider apples, fermenting fruits and oak. The mouthfeel is rather fizzy and surprisingly "thin" for a 6% cider made from 100% apple juice. Flavour of cider apples (no surprise!), quite dry. Not bad though. |

Moderately roasty flavour, notes of brown bread, not sweet, low bitterness. OKish, but not very exciting at all. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 On tap at Blackfriars, Glasgow, as "West End Hefeweizen", according to my notes. Cloudy pale golden colour. Typical hefeweizen aroma of cloves, but with some strange sidenotes of rotting vegetables. Citrussy flavour, notes of cloves, thin mouthfeel. Not a very successful hefeweizen in my book. |
