6851 | Wander Beyond Captain Chocolate Chai Latte Imperial Stout | United Kingdom | Imperial Stout | 3.6
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 440 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 12.0%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Distinct and intense aroma of dark malts, lactose, vanilla, cocoa / chocolate - and not least the spices used (cinnamon, black peppercorns, cloves, ginger and nutmeg). Very sweet and spicy flavour, far too much lactose, and otherwise the same elements as the aroma. Loads of said spices in the aftertaste. Overkill, but props to the brewery for trying. The can is for sharing - good in small portions! |

6853 | Wangensten Rakøl | Norway | Kellerbier | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330 ml green bottle, thanks to Ole_R. I also bought a couple bottles at Fenaknoken, Oslo. ABV is 4.65%. Batch #81, BB 26.09.08. Unfiltered and unpasteurised, sediment in the bottle. The beer is intended as an accompaniment to "rakfisk" or "rakaure", = half-fermented trout (or other freshwater fish). Olav Wangensten AS produces this strange smelling but lovely tasting treat, and has commissioned this beer from Atna to go with it. Amber coloured beer, very cloudy when the sediment is poured. Moderate creamy head. Nice aroma of yeast, fermenting fruit and farmhouse kitchen. The flavour is quite yeasty with a moderate fruitiness and pleasant hops. Maybe a good idea to pour carefully and leave the sediment in the bottle with this one. I’m sure the beer goes well with rakfisk, but it is worth drinking on its own too. |

6865 | Watou Tripel | Belgium | Abbey Tripel | 4.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 750 ml silk-print corked (champagne style) brown bottle, bought in Denmark. Golden colour, slightly hazy, pours with an enormous, fluffy and lingering white head. Very nice aroma of yeast, oak, brown candy sugar, horse stable and cigars. Slightly spicy and peppery flavour with tolerable maltiness and hops, and a slight alcoholic bite. Aftertaste is okay, but does not last "forever". Not a particularly complex flavour, but a good beer all the same. |

Typical witbier aroma of wheat, citrus and coriander. The flavour is also wheaty and very refreshing, but the citrus and coriander elements are quite moderate. Low bitterness. |

6867 | Weihenstephaner / Samuel Adams Infinium | Germany | Belgian Strong Ale | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 750 ml very elegant corked bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot. ABV is 10.5%. Crystal clear golden colour, pours very sparkling with huge white head. Slightly "unfresh" aroma of "Belgian" ale yeast, mild spices and stale marmalade, hints of alcohol and solvent. The flavour has also an "unfresh" character, notes of stale fruit, stale hops, alcohol and a hint of caramel. Whatever the idea behind this beer, it was poorly executed. Disappointing. |

6869 | Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Alkoholfrei | Germany | Reduced Alcohol | 2.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 500 ml bottle, bought in Sweden. ABV is 0.5%. Golden colour, slightly hazy, huge white head. The aroma has some hefeweizen notes of banana and cloves, but also hints of the more typical n/a beer notes like over-boiled vegetables and baby porridge. Not quite as bad as many other n/a beers, though. The mouthfeel is thin, as expected. The bland flavour has some weak notes of citrus and wheat malts, hardly any noticeable hops. |

6870 | Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel | Germany | Dunkel Weizen | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Hazy brown colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of ripe bananas, cloves and brown bread. The flavour has also notes of brown bread, hints of banana and cloves, but is far drier than the aroma makes you expect. Minimal bitterness. Refreshing and easy drinking - could easily be recommended even for pale lager drinkers who think that everything darker than piss yellow must be dangerous. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.7%. Very pale yellow colour, hazy, with a huge white head. Much paler than any other weizenbock I’ve had. Lovely typical sweetish hefeweizen aroma with notes of ripe bananas, cloves and bubblegum. The flavour is sweet and fruity, but still fairly light bodied for its strength. Moderate notes of cloves, very moderate hops. A very different character compared to e.g. Schneider Aventinus, but nice enough to drink. |
