2176 Great Lakes Brewery Winter Ale Canada Spiced Beer 3.8

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

750ml bottle
6.2% ABV
I tried this beer on December 8, 2010 after purchasing from the RBC Plaza LCBO outlet. The beer pours a translucent red with a generous foamy tan head. The aroma is nutmeg, cinnamon, caramel malt, and some floral hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with medium carbonation. The flavour is cinnamon, nutmeg, malt, and a bitter hop finish. The spices were very very evident in the taste. A nice winter warmer. A bit on the expensive side however!

2178 Post Road Pumpkin Ale United States Spiced Beer 3.3

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 6

12 oz bottle
5.0% ABV
I tried this beer on November 19, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent orange-red with a very thin very short-lived white head. The aroma is malty with pumpkin and spicy notes (cloves and nutmeg). The mouthfeel was medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour was primarily malty with some definite spiciness and a hop-laden finish. Better than the Great Lakes Pumpkin ale in my opinion.

The flavour was sticky sweet malt, with a mild bitter finish.

March 22, 2013
LCBO Outlet #511 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – King / Spadina)
500ml bottle
4.2% ABV
$3.50
The beer pours a translucent reddish-gold with a thin tan ring for a head. Aroma is grainy malt, ginger, and light hops. Mouthfeel is light bodied, with high carbonation. Flavour is a British bitter crossed with Ginger Ale but got more beery as it warmed up. Heavy on the ginger and the spice. Not something I would try again.

500ml bottle
4.5% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
July 26, 2013
The beer pours a slightly hazed golden colour with orange edges and a thin snow white cap. 16oz draught
5.9% ABV
Bar Hop (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
November 29, 2013
The beer appears to be a Black IPA with Belgian yeast and pumpkins......lots and lots of pumpkin. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with mild carbonation. Flavour was dominated by the yeast and the pumpkin with the grain in the background. Flavourful and refreshing, but not something I would session with.

2194 Beau's All Natural Wild Oats Series No. 13: Weiss O'Lantern - Pumpkinweiss Canada Spiced Beer 3.1

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

600ml bottle
5.6% ABV
King/Spadina LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
October 5, 2012
$7.75
The beer pours a hazy orange-gold with a thin tan head, definitely reminiscent of an orange coloured wheat beer. The aroma is pumpkin, spices, and wheat. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is more wheat and spices than pumpkin. While the first couple of Beau’s beers I tried were very good, the others haven’t lived up to the Ontario hype, certainly not at their price point.
