Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330ml draught
7.1% ABV
C'est What? (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
February 14, 2013
Part of C'est What's Flying Monkeys Tap Takeover. The beer pours a solid black colour with a thin brown ring for a head. The aroma was roasted malt, vanilla, and coffee. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, but thin for a porter, and had medium carbonation. Flavour was quite dry and licoricy for a porter. Bitter coffee, alcohol and roasted malt are the dominant notes. The aftertaste suggests that this was a barrel aged beer. |

1957 | Tree Black Tree Dark Ale | Canada | Porter | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330ml
5.0% ABV
This is a beer for a good cause...reforestation. And for a charity beer, it's not bad. Had it at a friend's house after he brought back a case from out west. It's a golden red, clear, with a creamy head. The aroma is dark malt, some hops, and some caramel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, and medium carbonation. The flavour is reminiscent of an English Pale Ale more than a porter with a less roasted malt profile than I would have expected. |
