Impressive. It came to me in a glass (on draught) and appeared to be chocolate milk with a thick head. The beer was dark brown, with a medium brown head that lasted throughout the beer. The aroma was a combination of malt, chocolate, and fruits. The mouthfeel was full bodied, and not as thick as I was expecting. Nor was there a whole lot of carbonation. The flavour was full of malt, chocolate, and plums. Overall, this was a truly great experience, and completely surprised me that a stout could provide this. |

1781 | Kuhnhenn Fourth Dementia Old Ale | United States | Old Ale | 4.5
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 2012 Vintage
355ml bottle
13.5% ABV (as written on the bottle)
King/Spadina LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
April 5, 2013
The beer poured a dark translucent ruby colour with a very thin head and some floaties. Aroma alcohol, raisins, caramel, and molasses. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with ample carbonation. Flavour is sweet with the alcohol leaving a trail down to the stomach. Caramel, raisins, and molasses dominated the flavour but I felt I could detect some candy sugar in the mix. A very good beer, and definitely a sipper!

This was part of the 2013 LCBO Spring release, but this would have been great as a winter warmer. |

1785 | Harviestoun Ola Dubh 18 Year Special Reserve | United Kingdom | Old Ale | 4.1
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330ml bottle
8.0% ABV
Best Before: January 2012
Queen's Quay LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
March 8, 2011
The beer poured a solid black with a short-lived tan coloured head. The aroma is roasted malt, nuts, and coffee...very very similar to the 16 Year Old version. Mouthfeel is full-bodied, creamy, with medium carbonation. The flavour is smoke, roasted malt, nuts, coffee, and again finished with the taste of whiskey.
