1501 | Double Trouble Hops and Robbers Sucker Punch IPA | Canada | IPA | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 473ml can
6.50% ABV
Best Before: August 25, 2020
Real Canadian Superstore - Main/Thompson (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
September 4, 2020
$3.27
The beer pours a very hazed metallic gold colour with high effervescence. The head is white, rocky, about 1/8 inch thick, and lasts a long time. The aroma is funky yeast in all its’ glory, with lighter hints of tart berries, grass, and earthy hops. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is tart fruit, so tart it takes the tongue a few seconds to recover. Once the tongue recovers one discovers a white wine flavour with the yeast prevalent. Interesting beer! |

A decade ago this was often listed in Top 10 lists for Canada’s best IPAs, and I loved it, but I can’t believe what I had today is the same IPA served in 2010. |

The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is citrusy hops, some grapefruit, and weak sweet malt. Quite enjoyable actually. |

The aroma is strong with grapefruity hops, pine notes, and cereal. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is weak, not a lot of citrus, not a lot of malt, and very little if any yeasty notes. Very disappointed after reading other reviews, and the lack of a legible date on the can makes me wonder if this is an older can. |

1517 | Mill Street Hopped and Confused | Canada | IPA | 2.3
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.7% ABV
Main/Bronte LCBO Outlet (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 20, 2018
$3.25
The beer pours a medium urine yellow colour with a thin white film that stands in for a head. Very hazy and very unappealing to look at. The aroma is light tropical fruit, some grass, and some lemony scents. The mouthfeel is watery with below averahe carbonation. Despite biying this 2 days ago, this could be an old beer based on appearance, aroma and mouthfeel. The flavour is grainy malt, tropical fruits, and a weak bitter finish. I don’t expect Mill Street to make world beating beers, especially now that they are under the Labatt (i.e. Anheuser-Busch-Inbev) umbrella, but I do expect better than this. |

The aroma was papaya, mango, grass, and some mustiness. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with below average carbonation. The flavour was pretty one dimensional with the grass notes up front and the tropical fruit hop flavours in back. Not a lot of bitterness and not a lot of depth. |

The aroma is caramel malt, citrus fruit, and pine. A throwback to the IPAs of a decade ago. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, and slightly above average carbonation. The flavour is very well balanced between the grains and caramel malt tones and the citrusy bitterness of the hops. I like this beer and wonder how good it would have been less than 7 months old. |

The aroma is oranges, mango, and grapefruity hops. If it wasn't for the hoppy aroma, this would look and smell like 5 Alive fruit juice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a definite low carbonation sensation. The flavour is reminiscent of orange juice that has sat around for a few hours with a bitter hop bite in the finish. This is my first "milkshake IPA" because I have been avoiding the style. Now I know why as my fears were indeed realized. |

The aromas are light biscuit malt and very strong papaya and passion fruit notes. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour sticks to the sweet side with the fruity notes of tropical fruit shining through. There is very little bitterness in the finish. The beer is dangerously drinkable for a 6.2% IPA. |

The aroma is cereal grains, passion fruit, and a little bit of mustiness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, a fair bit of creaminess, and below average carbonation (how very British of them). The flavour is cereal malt, tropical fruit, and nice bitter hop finish. Not as flavourful as the Omnipollo Zodiac I had earlier, but still decently flavoured. |

The aroma is grainy malt and earthy hops and nothing else, a simple aroma. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grainy malt with a weak hoppy finish. I know this beer is billed as a 'Session Ale' but everything about the aroma and flavour says pale lager, albeit a non-adjunct version of the style. |
