Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 6 May 8, 2019
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
473ml can
7.5% ABV
Canned On: February 20, 2019
$3.15
The beer pours a translucent dark cherry red with a thin brown tan cap which starts off bubbly but quickly recedes to a film on top. The aroma is toasted caramel malt, earthy hops, weak bread, and a hint of yeast. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sadly, the flavour falls short. While only 7.5%, the alcohol flavour dominates the taste. There are hints of caramel and bitter hop notes, but the alcohol steals the show. |

743 | Les 3 Brasseurs Stout | Canada | Dry Stout | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 March 2, 2012
The 3 Brewers, Yonge Street (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
568ml Draught
5.60% ABV
$6.49
This was the most uninspired stout I have had in a long time. The waitress said it was in the style of a Guinness, and that should have been my cue as I'm not a fan of Guinness. It poured a dark brown with black edges, and a creamy brown head. Aroma was weak roast with some coffee and chocolate in the background. Mouthfeel was weak to medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was weak roast, weak coffee, and weak chocolate. So, not offensive......but not memorable. |

There were the same hints of chocolate in the flavour, along with a nice bitter finish. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 341ml bottle
4.2% ABV
Guelph, Ontario, Canada
No matter how many times I try Guinness, I fail to see why the world appreciates it so much. As I move along with my beer experience, I do tend to give it slightly higher ratings....more to distance it from the trashy swill than to bring it closer to the diamonds of the beer world. |
