2351 Carib Lager Trinidad and Tobago Pale Lager 1.8

Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3

July 23, 2007
Smokeless Joe’s (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – 125 John Street)
330ml bottle
5.20% ABV
Bottled On: Unknown
$5.90
The beer poured a translucent pale gold with a 1cm dense head that dissipated very quickly. The aroma was full of corn, wheat and grass. Not at all appealing. The mouthfeel wasn’t as crisp as I was expecting and had a medium-body feel with some carbonation. The taste was thick with corn, and as I was finishing the beer, it got cornier (no pun intended).

222ml bottle
4.2% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 30, 2008
The beer poured a translucent gold colour with a generous white head which settled down immediately. Tons of effervescence. The smell was very very sour. Almost a turn off. The mouthfeel was light to medium bodied, lots of carbonation. The flavour was a ton of grain with a little bit of hops. Not a beer I would try again.

2353 Dos Equis XX Special Lager Mexico Pale Lager 1.8

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3

355ml bottle
4.5% ABV
I tried this beer on June 4, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a transparent gold colour with a thin white head that disappeared fast. The aroma was grainy malt, some hops, and a hint of dishwashing detergent. The mouthfeel was weak bodied, quite watery, and well carbonated. The taste was an ill conceived concoction of grainy malt, grass, and acid.

500ml can
4.0% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 27, 2010
First of all, I almost picked up one of these 2 years ago, and at that time the ABV was 4.6%. Tis can looks exactly the same as the one from 2 years ago, except the ABV is now only 4%. The beer poured a translucent pale yellow-gold with a huge generous white bubbly head. The aromatic features were grassy malt, wet steel, and a tad hint of hops. The mouthfeel was weak bodied, almost watery, and highly carbonated. The flavour was weak grainy malt and water.

The aroma was cheap malt, grain, and a weak floral sense. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was awful, sweet grainy malt.

473ml aluminum bottle
6.4% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
March 16, 2015
The beer pours a clear light gold colour with absolutely no head and high effervescence. The aroma is corn, and acidic notes. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with below average carbonation. The flavour is sweet grains and alcohol. Amazing how North American macro lagers taste like alcohol bombs at 5.5% or above yet breweries in Belgium can hide alcohol well above 10%.

500ml can
5.0% ABV
Canned On: January 18, 2018
Main/Thompson LCBO Outlet (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 28, 2018
$2.45
The beer pours a very translucent pale straw colour, really more of a gold tinged water colour with a generous bubbly white head which does not last. The aroma is grains, weak herbal hops, wet grass, and cardboard notes. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grains and hops and some sour off-notes. Very similar to most Eastern European pale lagers.

473ml can
4.0% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
August 11, 2015
The beer pours a translucent pale gold with a long lasting rocky white head. The aroma is all grains. No yeast. No hops. The mouthfeel is weak bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is weak grains with again, no hoppy notes, and no yeasty flavours. Diluted grainy water would be an apt description for this beer.

March 9, 2011
LCBO Outlet #217 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Queen’s Quay)
473ml can
4.0% ABV
$2.95
The beer poured a slightly hazy gold colour with a thin white ring. The aroma was grainy malt...not very wheat like. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour has a little hint of wheat but aside from that tastes like most Canadian pale lagers....i.e. not very good. I hate to say it, but the Trailhead Lager tastes better.

May 10, 2023
Beer Store #2021 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Sobey’s Plaza)
275ml bottle
5.2% ABV
Bottled On: December 31, 2022
$2.16
I never heard of this beer until a week or so ago when watching somebody sample it on youtube, and lo and behold, it’s suddenly available in 6 packs at one of my local Beer Stores. The beer pours a translucent very pale gold colour with a short lived white bubbly head and plenty of effervescence. The aroma is grains, musty hops, and light yeast. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grains, some yeast, a weak light fruit note, and a mild bitter finish. It’s not very good at all.

341ml bottle
5.0% ABV
May 23, 2019
Gift
This was a gift from a colleague and former friend. The beer pours a translucent pale straw colour with a bubbly white head. Effervescence is minimal, although the head lasts a few minutes. The aroma is stale cardboard, grass, and musty hops. Better than your average macro, but not in the same class as most craft pale lagers. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour is sweet corn malt, with very little in the way of a bitter hop finish. I will not be trying this beer again......ever!

November 18, 1988
Gift
355ml bottle
5.0% ABV
$0.00
Version: Coors Banquet Beer brewed by Molson Breweries of Canada
An unimpressive entry from one of the big three. The beer is a very light yellow colour in the glass, with a very thin white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma dissipates as the beer is poured from the bottle into the glass. The taste reminds me of burnt sugar and this taste lingers for quite a while after the beer is gone. The mouthfeel is too watery as well. This is the only beer I can think of where the 'Lite' version is superior in taste. Not a beer I would recommend to my enemies let alone my friends

January 1, 1991
Boo Sports Bar, The (Guelph, Ontario, Canada – University of Guelph, University Centre)
355ml bottle
5.0% ABV
$2.45
This was my original favourite American beer (so far out of the limited swill I have tried). I tried it a few times here in Canada (brewed by Molson under license) and was pleasantly surprised. After moving to Memphis Tennessee, I tried it there, and was even more pleasantly surprised, an American brewed beverage that was better than it's Canadian brewed counterpart (unlike Budwesier, Coors, Coors Light, and Miller High Life). For a long time, this was the one American beer I came back to from time to time. The aroma is pleasant with some slight malty tones. The colour is a light golden colour similar to straw. The taste is slightly malty with some grassy undertones. It is very crisp on the tongue with some mild carbonation. A nice refreshing beer for an American macrobrew.

March 11, 2015
Another beer being revisted on Cheapie Wednesday. The beer pours a translucent medium gold colour with a short-lived snow white bubbly head. The aroma is grainy malts, vomit, and cooked vegetables. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is not that good and comparable to Canadian stock ales with milky cereal notes and metallic finishes.

Brewed in Canada by the Molson Breweries Limited
September 15, 1987
Gift
341ml bottle
5.0% ABV
$0.00
There is not a lot to say about this beer that is good, not for me anyway. The beer is a nice light gold colour that is reminiscent of American lagers. There is no discernable smell to speak of nor is there any discernable taste. The mouthfeel is very watery with hints of carbonation. Overall this is not a beer that I would try again, nor is it a beer that I would recommend to others.. It gets a 3 overall simply because they had the Bottom Bottle Opener at one time. Unfortunately the case we got contained bottles that had obviously been used many times before because the glass around the opener had been well chipped/worn away meaning that we needed the bottle opener anyway.

Boring beer, nothing awful, nothing great.
