Easy drinking, but not much goin' on.

The flavour is very grainy with earthy hops. Again, nothing outstanding but thankfully no metallic or acidic flavours.

The anise notes really pop in the flavour along with dark fruit, molasses, and the pepper pops in the finish. A fuller mouthfeel and more carbonation and this would have been a very good beer.

The beer pours a slightly hazed golden colour with a bubbly white cap that recedes within a couple of minutes to thin layer of lacing. The aroma is light hops, malt, and yeast. There is a macro feel to the aroma. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is interesting as it is quite malty with the yeast notes showing through more than the hop notes. I was hoping for better from my hometown brewer.

The flavour is very acidic with definite notes of grains and tropical fruit, and with a hint of saltiness. Very weird for the style.

The aroma is tart raspberries, some funky grains, and a weak note I’ve never smelled before, although it’s a pleasant one. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The tartness of the flavour doesn’t match the tartness of the aroma, but it is still there. Nothing offensive about this beer, but it doesn’t replace a good Flanders Red or Oud Bruin

The flavour is well balanced between the malt and the bitter citrusy notes of the hops. Very easy drinking.

The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is a battle between the mango and the wheat and the loser was my tongue. There is a bitter flavour I can’t put my finger on but it kills the beer.

The head is chocolate brown, creamy, and half an inch thick. Lacing is generous. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted nuts, coffee, and vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation, a little weak for the style. This is a bitter beer. There is a little sweetness, but for the most part the coffee and hops give this a bitter finish.

The flavour is sweet cereal grains that leave me with the impression that this is a ‘stock’ ale recipe. It’s not bad.
