1576 | Mill Street Ambre de la Chaudière | Canada | Biere de Garde | 3.2
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 341ml bottle
7.0% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
October 13, 2013
This is an ugly looking beer. Looks like an unfiltered dark apple cider. It pours a very hazed golden-brown with no head. The aroma is yeast, apples (maybe the cider comment isn't off the mark) and some grains. I don't get any of the funk associated with Biere de Gardes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour has the funk I was missing in the aroma, with yeasty notes, and hints of apple. |

1588 | Collective Arts Collective Project: Liquid Arts Fest IPA | Canada | IPA | 3.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
5.9% ABV
Canned On: July 10, 2018
Main/Bronte LCBO Outlet (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
July 31, 2018
$4.95
The beer pours a solid orange colour with a short-lived pulpy head. The aroma is oranges, mango, and grapefruity hops. If it wasn't for the hoppy aroma, this would look and smell like 5 Alive fruit juice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a definite low carbonation sensation. The flavour is reminiscent of orange juice that has sat around for a few hours with a bitter hop bite in the finish. This is my first "milkshake IPA" because I have been avoiding the style. Now I know why as my fears were indeed realized. |

The flavour is typical pilsner flavour with grainy malt, a little spice, and a bitter hop finish. I am quite surprised given the colour of the beer that there are no caramel or sweet malt flavours. |

The aroma is bourbon, and lots of it, burnt wood, some roasted malt, vanilla, and coffee. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is similar to the aroma….lots of burnt wood and bourbon up front, followed by notes of roasted malt, coffee. Not a fan of barrel aged beers, and in this case, the barrel takes over the beer.

In the end, this ended up being a drainpour. It looked great, the mouthfeel was great, but the overpowering bourbon aroma and flavour was just too much. I like bourbon, and I like beer, but they don't go together in my opinion. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 March 13, 2019
LCBO Outlet #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
473ml can
3.0% ABv
Canned On: November 29, 2018
$3.15
The beer pours a hazy orange colour, reminiscent of C-Plus Orange Soda from the 1980s, with a loose foamy light tan coloured head which doesn’t last. The aroma is dishsoap, oranges, weak herbal hops, and ginger. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, almost powdery, with below average carbonation, which is expected in a radler. You can taste both the fruit and ginger in the flavour, which is rather unique. Again, as a ‘drink’, I would try this again based on flavour alone, but still looking for more beer quality. |
