The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. It says barrel aged on the can, but I can’t detect any in the aroma. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation, a bit disappointed it isn’t creamy and more full bodied. The barrel aging can be tasted in the flavour as there is definitely some wood notes on the tongue, very dry wood notes. Not as much coffee in the flavour as the aroma. A decent effort by a small brewer.

The aroma is very yeasty, definitely a Belgian influence here, followed by notes of tropical citrus juices, and a hint of biscuit malts. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. First thing I taste is pine resing, which gives way to some grain notes, followed by some tropical fruit juice flavours, almost similar to ‘Five Alive’. Still not a fan of these juice bombs…..I want beer, not breakfast juice!

The flavour was sweet and bready with notes of caramel, dark fruits, yeast, and burnt sugar. It was a good beer, but not great.

There is some fruity sweetness, but not much. The finish is a weak bitter hop bitye with some citrus peel in the mix.

The flavour is sweet wheat and bubble gum to start, giving way to charred wood, and spices in the finish. Again, a very interesting beer.

The dominant flavours are coffee and nutty malt, which eventually give way to sweet maple notes before a mildly bitter finish. Better than the last All or Nothing beer I had, but not by much.

They were going for crisp, they got crisp. The flavour is very pine forward, with notes of grapefruit not far behind. The finish is bitter. Maybe a bit too hoppy for a pale ale.

Maybe it’s just me, but with a name like ‘Belgian’ Rye Ale, I expected more yeast character and I didn’t get any.

There is a hint of sweetness from the caramel and tropical fruit notes, but for the most part, this is a very bitter beer.

Chocolate is the aroma of the day with hints of roasted nuts, coffee, and vanilla rounding out the nose. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour…..I’m not a fan of. While I don’t get any cherry in the aroma, I definitely get tart cherries in the flavour, and they dominate the chocolate and mocha notes in the background. I love black forest cake. I do not love this beer however.

And it takes 5 or so minutes to settle down. Once settles, the beer is a translucent dark copper colour with a HUGE bubble tan coloured head which lasts. The aroma is molasses, whisky, roasted malt, and caramel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is alcohol, smoked wood, peat, caramel, and leather. A lot of barrel, not a lot of Scotch ale. Not a favourite of mine.

The flavour is definitely iced coffee and roasted malt with hints of vanilla and soy sauce. The finish is a little more bitter than anticipated. Not a bad beer, but too bitter for my liking.
