Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 550ml draught
5.6% ABV
I tried this beer on tap on June 1, 2012 at "C'est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent copper colour with a thin foamy medium brown head that lasted. Certainly far from the white head mentioned on the website. The aroma was sweet malt, caramel, vanilla and some floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was sweet malt, caramel, molasses, some yeasty notes, and a bitter finish. I enjoyed all but the aftertaste. |

The beer pours a coca-cola brown with a fluffy light brown cap which quickly devolves to a rocky film. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, cherries and anise. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, creamy, and average carbonation. The flavour is not very b itter for a porter with the sweetness of the cherries cutting through the bitterness of the roasted malt and coffee flavours. This is the best Railway City beer I’ve tried in years. |

I like the beer, although the flavour doesn’t live up to the promise of the aroma. |

344 | Spencer Trappist Holiday Ale | United States | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330ml bottle
9.00% ABV
Best Before: July 26, 2020
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
November 20, 2018
$4.06
The 2018 Birthday Beer. The beer pours a translucent dark reddish brown with a creamy light brown head which lasts. There are seasonal spices and dark fruit in the aroma along with yeast, grains, and molasses. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, with average carbonation. The flavour is more sweet than bitter with the sweet sugary flavours coming through with the spices. The finish is both spicy and bitter at the same time. A well made holiday Belgian style ale that will do in a pinch if you can’t get a Corsedonk or St. Bernardus Christmas ale. |

The aroma is dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, and yeast. Definitely detecting some Quad notes here. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, creamy, with ample carbonation. The flavour starts off sweet with notes of caramel and molasses, with some roasted malt character, some spice, almost peppery in fact, followed by yeast and a chocolatey note. Lots of flavours in this once it warms. |

It pours a translucent mahogany colour with a generous off-white rocky head which settles into a long lasting film. The aroma is tart cherries, vinegar, grass, and wheat…..but the tart cherries leave an impression, especially as I was not expecting them! The mouthfeel is medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour is interesting. You taste both the tart fruit notes and vinegar, and then in the background is the traditional chocolate notes you get with a dunkelweizen. I like it….a lot. Not crazy about the price, but the beer is good! |

The aroma is pine, grapefruit, cereal, and some mustiness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation.
