330ml bottle
8.0% ABV
Smokeless Joe’s (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – 125 John Street)
December 20, 2007
Trappist #6
$9.95
The beer poured a dark brown into the Trappist chalice with a huge tan head that lasts throughout the beer, getting rocky as it slowly dissipates. The aroma is a mixture of yeast, malt and fruit such as plums. The mouthfeel was highly carbonated and full-bodied. The flavour was malt, with some hop bitterness.

375ml bottle
6.0% abv
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
November 25, 2007
Bottle wrapper says 'Leifman's Kriekbier, biere aux cerises, 6% alc./vol'.
The beer was a beautiful ruby red in colour with a medium sized tan couloured head. The aroma was sour cherries and not much else. The mouthfeel was sour, full-bodied, slightly creamy and champagny. The flavour was powerfully sour cherries, and a huge bite on the back of the tongue.

53 Mort Subite Framboise Belgium Fruit Lambic 3.8

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

375ml bottle
4.5% ABV
I tried this beer on November 15, 2007 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto. The beer poured a nice red into the glass with a huge frothy white head that did not want to go away. The aroma was heavy on the raspberry. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, and heavily carbonated............but not quite champagne-like. The flavour was that of a small amount of hops combined with a lot of raspberries.

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Brewed under license in Canada by Labatt Brewing Company
October 1, 1998
Casey’s Restaurant (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Front Street West)>br> 330ml bottle
5.20% ABV
$4.00
This is a pleasant beer to drink after work when visiting the pub with friends. The aroma is mild and malty, and not too strong. It pours a nice golden colour with a fair sized white head and looks like a beer should. It is very smooth to the tongue and goes down nicely. It has a mild taste that makes this a very easy beer to drink.

20 oz draught
5.0% ABV
I tried this beer on August 30, 2007 at 'Houston's Steak and Ribs' in Toronto. The beer was a hazy yellow colour with a very white head that persisted throughout the experience. The aroma was a combination of wheat and malt. The mouthfeel was slightly carbonated with some medium-bodiedness. The flavour was wheaty with hints of malt. A good beer, but not a great beer.

Another fine product from St. Bernardus!

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

330ml bottle
8.5% ABV
I had this beer on August 7, 2007 at 'Smokeless Joe' in Toronto. The beer was poured into a tulip and was a beautiful golden colour with a huge loose rocky white head that lasted longer than the beer. The aroma was hints of malt and some spice. The mouthfeel was light but with heavy heavy carbonation. The taste was slightly citrusy with a bitter aftertaste.

330ml bottle
9.0% ABV
The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
July 27, 2007
The beer poured a deep dark brown into the Chimay glass with a generous off-white head that didn't last near as long as some other Trappists I've tried. The aroma is full of malt and yeast, with a tinge of sweetness. The mouthfeel was full-bodied with a champagne like carbonation feel. The flavour was a combination of malts and fruits. A very good beer.

June 21, 2007 The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
375ml bottle
4.50% ABV
$15.35
My particular beer was a Liefmans Frambozenbier, 375ml, 4.5% abv, and wrapped in a paper wrapper. This poured a beautiful maroon colour right out of the bottle with a beautiful raspberry aroma. The mouthfeel was crisp with some carbonation on the tongue. The beer started with a malty flavour with a lot of raspberry in it and finished with a crisp taste with a hint of raspberry. A truly wonderful experience for a fruit beer

June 21, 2007 The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
330ml bottle
8.70% ABV
$10.60
The aroma was malty and the beer was a golden colour. The first mouthfeel provided a soapy taste to it. Future tastes provided less soap and a clove/nutmeg taste. Overall I was pleasantly surprised as the higher alcohol content wasn't as evident as I thought it would be.

330ml bottle
6.9% ABV (as written on bottle)
Smokeless Joe (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
July 23, 2007
Re-Rate: Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
Re-Rated September 25, 2007
The beer was bottled on November 16, 2006 and was 6.9% ABV (as opposed to 6.2%). The beer poured a cloudy brownish gold with a head that lasted through the entire trappist glass. The carbonation was very evident in the glass. The aroma was spicy and fruity, not as yeasty as an Abbey Quadrupel. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with medium carbonation. The taste was not to my liking. The upfront taste was alright, but there was a lime-like bitterness on the back of the tongue. A very good beer, but not a great beer for me. Re-Rated on May 28, 2008 with no changes.

330ml bottle
9.0% ABV
Smokeless Joe’s (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – 125 John Street)
July 16, 2007
$11.80
I loved the label.........I'm not a religious person, but the label was beautiful. Anyway, the beer poured a dark brown into the glass with a half inch head that lasted throughout the experience. The aroma was very yeasty with some hints of pears. It was silky smoth and full-bodied on the tongue with hints of carbonation. The flavour was outstanding...malty, yeasty, with a tinge of sweetness. Just a smidgen below the St. Bernardus Abt 12.........but not much.

70 Rochefort Trappistes 10 Belgium Abbey Quadrupel 4.8

Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

330ml bottle
11.3% ABV
The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
July 12, 2007
Unfortunately I can't rate it as high as the St. Bernardus Abt 12 I had last night. Maybe had I tried them in the reverse order things may have been different. Anyway, this poured a dark reddish-brown with a small head (the first contrast with SS). The head disappeared rather quickly. The aroma was very similar with robust bread and malt tones as well as plums. It felt great on the tongue with a full-bodied feel. As for the taste, I'm not sure where it failed when compared to the SB, but it just failed to measure up. Possibly the higher alcohol content which I noticed more in this brew.

330ml bottle
10.5% ABV
Bar Volo (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
July 11, 2007
I was very nervous about trying this....high alcohol content, dark brown, yada yada yaada. Well, try it I did. It poured a dark brown into the glass with a small head that lasted throughout the entire beer. The aroma was thick with bread and hops, and some fruit. It was silky smooth on the tongue with a full-bodied feel. The taste.........unlike any beer I've tasted before. There was bread, and malt...and hops. The alcohol was not noticeable on the tongue.....but I felt it going down....and this is one damn fine beer!
