The aroma is caramel, light toasted malt, nuts, and some weak herbal hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is rather one dimensional with notes of sweet light caramel and some toasted malt notes, and a mildly bitter finish. A nice dunkel for a cool morning, but nothing outstanding.

1855 DAB Maibock Germany Bock 2.3

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3

500ml can
7.00% ABV
Canned On: May 16, 2018
Best Before: August 16, 2019
Yonge Eglinton Centre LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
August 8, 2018
$2.60
The beer pours a translucent gold colour with good effervescence, and with a generous bubbly off-white head that quickly disappears to a light film. The aroma was grains, alcohol, and earthy hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was sweet and grainy with a definite alcohol presence and some old leathery notes. I'm quite surprised that D.A.B. would pass a beer like this off as a Maibock when it more closely resembles a beer like the Crest and Faxe 10% strong lagers. I rarely drain-pour a beer, and I can't remember the last time I did it, but add this beer to the short list of my drain-pours (I almost feel sorry for the drain).

1856 BraufactuM Soleya Germany Saison 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

330ml bottle
6.5% Abv
Best Before: March 28, 2019
Main / Bronte LCBO Outlet (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
August 9, 2018
$3.25
The beer pours a lightly hazed metallic gold colour with a 1" foamy off-white head which sticks around. The aroma is light grains, yeast, citrus, and some tropical fruit notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with average carbonation and almost a hefeweizen feel. The aroma is funky, with notes of tart fruit and salt. There is some grains in the background but it is the salty and tart flavours that predominate.

1858 Erdinger Kristall / Erdinger Weissbier Kristallklar (Weizen Crystal Clear) Germany Krystal Weizen 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

500ml bottle
5.30% ABV
Best Before: June 30, 2020
Gift
December 29, 2019
Gift
The beer pours a translucent amber-tinged gold with a thin creamy off-white head that lasts. The aroma is wheat, light caramel, floral hops, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour matches the aroma and is a typical German wheat beer flavour. It starts off with the wheat, followed by some light sweet fruity caramel notes, followed by a little citrusy bitterness, leading to a mild hoppy finish. A very well brewed Kristal hefeweizen

Aroma is wheat, bubble gum sweetness, and bananas. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet malt up front with flavours of wheat and banana, somewhat like cereal with fruit. One of the better Erdinger beers in my opinion.

1860 Insel-Brauerei Baltic Ale Germany Belgian Strong Ale 3.4

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

500ml bottle
7.5% ABV
Best Before: December 31m 2021
LCBO Outlet # 010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Summerhill)
March 18, 2020
$3.70
The beer pours a light golden colour, translucent, with polenty of effervescence leading to a frothy snow white head. The aroma is very grainy and yeasty with some hints of herbal hops. Nothing in the aroma screams “Belgian”. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. So, while the aroma doesn’t say Belgian, the flavour is reminiscent of a light Belgian tripel. A sweet malt start, followed by light Belgian spiciness, and the definite flavour of a Belgian yeast. It’s a pretty decent beer, but it is still missing that ‘something’

1862 Einbecker Ur-Bock Hell Germany Bock 2.5

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4

330ml bottle
6.5% ABV
Best Before: March 26, 2021
LCBO Outlet #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Summerhill)
October 17, 2020
The beer pours a translucent medium gold colour with a generous white head which sticks around a couple of minutes before leaving some nice lacing in the glass. The aroma is light hints of alcohol, cereal grains, and noble hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, creamy, and has average carbonation. The flavour is alcohol, sweet grains, and an oily bitterness. If somebody handed me this in a glass and didn’t tell me what it was, I would think it is more of a malt liquor, or high ABV North American style lager.

The taste kills this! If the can didn't say brewed in Germany on it, I would have sworn this was a North American Macro product (Molson/Labatts/Coors/Miller/Anheuer-Busch)

The name of the brewery on the can is 'Berliner Pilsenert Brauerie GmbH' but the address matches that of the 'Brauerei Schultheiss'

The aroma was cereal malt and weak herbal hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was very grainy with a weak bitter hop finish. It pours a translucent mahogany colour with a generous off-white rocky head which settles into a long lasting film. The aroma is tart cherries, vinegar, grass, and wheat…..but the tart cherries leave an impression, especially as I was not expecting them! The mouthfeel is medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour is interesting. You taste both the tart fruit notes and vinegar, and then in the background is the traditional chocolate notes you get with a dunkelweizen. I like it….a lot. Not crazy about the price, but the beer is good!

The aroma is grainy malt, light yeast, a definite noble hop nose, and a hint of honey. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, average carbonation, and matches the textbook definition for 'crisp'.
