The beer pours a translucent dark brown colour with a generous brown head that disappears within 2-3 minutes. The aroma is roasted malt, molasses, earthy hops and fresh bread. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet molasses and alcohol and some brown bread. The finish is definitely bitter.

330ml bottle
4.5% ABV
I tried this beer on October 3, 2008 at “Smokeless Joe’s” in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent gold, with almost a thin white head. The aroma was all grainy malt with a hint of hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was very grassy…all malt, very little hops. I tried a mouthfeel of this during the Olympics and was quite surprised at how bad it was. Having a full bottle reminds me that there’s nothing here to threaten the craft beer industry.

500ml can
5.0% ABV
Canned On: January 18, 2018
Main/Thompson LCBO Outlet (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 28, 2018
$2.45
The beer pours a very translucent pale straw colour, really more of a gold tinged water colour with a generous bubbly white head which does not last. The aroma is grains, weak herbal hops, wet grass, and cardboard notes. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grains and hops and some sour off-notes. Very similar to most Eastern European pale lagers.

When held up to a strong white light, the beer is translucent. The aroma is roasted malt, caramel, cardboard, cereal grains, and herbal hops. June 21, 2007 The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
330ml bottle
4.40% ABV
$5.90
This was poured by the waiter and was a nice crystal golden colour in the glass. The aroma was malt, and slightly yeasty. The mouthfeel was crisp as was the flavour. A little carbonation to tickle the tongue always helps. The flavour is grainy malt with a definite hop presence and small yeast presence. I would definitely try this beer again.

February 6, 1987
Gift
341ml bottle
5.0% ABV
$0.00
This is a classic beer. I remember the commercials as a child with the famed Carlsberg Clydesdales. Haven't seen those in years, makes me wonder if they still have those. This beverage has an alright aroma, typical beer aroma. The colour is a nice golden colour. It has a smooth mouthfeel. The taste is bland, similar to other beers of the style. One thing of note is that this beer tastes better cold than at room temperature.
