326 | Flying Monkeys Hoptical Illusion Almost Pale Ale | Canada | American Pale Ale | 3.3
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 355ml bottle
5.0% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
October 14, 2009
The beer poured a translucent red into the glass with a huge rocky off-white head that lasted a while. The aroma was weakly hoppy with a definite malt presence. The mouthfeel was weak-bodied, almost watery with a low level of carbonation. The flavour was mildly malty with a good hoppy finish. A hoppier flavour profile would have been nice. |

331 | Tree Black Tree Dark Ale | Canada | Porter | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330ml
5.0% ABV
This is a beer for a good cause...reforestation. And for a charity beer, it's not bad. Had it at a friend's house after he brought back a case from out west. It's a golden red, clear, with a creamy head. The aroma is dark malt, some hops, and some caramel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, and medium carbonation. The flavour is reminiscent of an English Pale Ale more than a porter with a less roasted malt profile than I would have expected. |
