526 | Rodenbach Alexander | Belgium | Flanders Red | 4.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 2018 Vintage
750ml bottle
5.6% ABV
Best Before: January 3, 2021
LCBO Outlet #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Summerhill)
December 6, 2019
$11.95
I had a chance to try a shot glass of the original Alexander many moons ago and it was quite good, but not enough to rate. The cork says this is a 2018 bottle. It pours a beautiful translucent cherry red with a tan coloured cap and plenty of bubble to keep that cap alive. Aroma is vinegar, cherries, wood, and yeast. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with above average carbonation, and a ‘dry’ mouthfeel as well. Flavour starts off with sweet cherry notes, before giving way to tart cherries, vinegar, and burnt wood. The burnt wood flavour lingers on long afterwards. This beer is dangerously VERY drinkable. |

527 | Rainhard Brewing Sweetback's | Canada | Milk Stout | 3.2
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
6.0% ABV
Canned On: November 11, 2019
LCBO Outlet #411 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Wellesley)
November 30, 2019
$3.55
The beer pours a very dark brownish-black with a 1” foamy cap which recedes quickly, quite sad for a stout. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, and that soy sauce note. No noticeable chocolate aromas for this one. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is balanced between the coffee and nutty malty notes. There is a hint of some sweetness, but it is not very strong. |

The aroma is coffee, roasted malt, and some dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is coffee, coffee, and more coffee with some hints of anise in the mix. If you like coffee, you will probably like this. |

529 | Big Rock The Darcy's Poolside Grapefruit Lager | Canada | Light / Lite Lager | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.0% ABV<bv> Best Before: January 20, 2020
LCBO Outlet #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
November 28, 2019
$2.60
The beer pours a translucent shiny yellow with a short-lived bubbly white head and plenty of effervescence. The aroma is very “Wink” like (for those who don’t know, Wink was a grapefruit flavoured soft drink in the 1970s and 80s) with some weak grains. No real hops that I can discern. The mouthfeel is light bodied, with average carbonation. The flavour is quite grainy, not a lot of grapefruit to be found. Still, add Alcool to a bottle of Wink, and this is the resulting child! |

The aroma is coffe, roasted malt, nutty malt, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly creamy, with average carbonation. The flavour is definitely iced coffee and roasted malt with hints of vanilla and soy sauce. The finish is a little more bitter than anticipated. Not a bad beer, but too bitter for my liking. |

531 | Whitewater Brewing Wild Bog Cranberry Sour | Canada | Wild Ale | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 November 23, 2019
LCBO Outlet #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
473ml can
6.0% ABV
Canned On: September 24, 2019
$3.25
First off, I want to say that there are too many wild ale/sour ales/goses being made by Ontario brewers. It needs to stop! The beer pours a highly hazed pinkish-gold with a very short lived white head. The aroma is yeast, grass, and tart cranberries. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is primarily on the tart side with some weak grains. While the flavour is tart, it doesn’t scream cranberry to me. |

532 | Toboggan Brewing Lunatic Fridge IPA | Canada | IPA | 3.1
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
6.2% ABV<bv> Canned On: September 18, 2019
LCBO Outlet #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
November 23, 2019
$3.15
The beer pours a hazed metallic gold colour with a 1” white bubbly head which lasts a few minutes. The aroma is biscuit malt, weak herbal hops, and weak citrus fruit. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is very similar to the aroma with the biscuit malt dominating the caramel and citrusy hop notes. The finish is weakly bitter. I was expecting more from this based on local word of mouth. |

The aroma is grainy malt and herbal hops. Certainly not a lot going on in the aroma. The mouthfeel is m3dium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour profile matches the aroma with the grainy malt being the up front flavour and the finish being mildly bitter. |

The aroma is pine, grapefruit, cereal, and some mustiness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is well balanced between the citrusy grapefruit and malty caramel notes, and has a bitter finish. There is also an alcohol warminf effect as this beer goes down the hatch. Well done in my opinion. |

The aroma is biscuit malt, roasted nuts, caramel, and earthy hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly above average carbonation. The flavour….is a letdown. Lots of caramel flavour, and lots of dishsoap flavour. Not a good balance. Weak bitter finish doesn’t help the cause at all. |
