The aroma was sweet malt, some caramel, and some grass. The mouthfeel was thin-bodied and medium carbonated. The flavour was sweet malt, with some milky hints. Not all that enjoyable a dopplebock.

April 19, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
750ml bottle
9.5% ABV
Best Before: January 22, 2022
$11.95
The beer was bottled in January 2017. It pours a translucent mahogany colour with a generous off-white rocky head which settles into a long lasting film. The aroma is tart cherries, vinegar, grass, and wheat…..but the tart cherries leave an impression, especially as I was not expecting them! The mouthfeel is medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour is interesting. You taste both the tart fruit notes and vinegar, and then in the background is the traditional chocolate notes you get with a dunkelweizen. I like it….a lot. Not crazy about the price, but the beer is good!

Another great beer from Schneider and Sohn

330ml stubby bottle
4.5% ABV
I tried this beer on November 9, 2010 after purchasing from the Queens Quay LCBO outlet. The beer poured a very dark brown, almost black, with a huge brown bubbly head. The aroma was roasted malt, nuts, dark chocolate, and molasses. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with high carbonation. The flavour was very sour with hints of chocolate and roasted malt - in fact, the sourness lingers.

2013 Scotch Irish Corporal's Bitter Brown Ale (Corporal Punishment) Canada Brown Ale 3.7

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

330ml stubby bottle
4.3% ABV (as written on bottle)
Labelled as 'Corporal's Bitter Brown Ale'
I tried this beer on November 9, 2010 after purchasing from the Queen's Quay LCBO in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a hazy brownish gold with a thin white head (certainly not the rich mahogany colour described on the bottle). The aroma was grainy malt, ginger, and some floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grainy malt, with citrusy hops, yeast, and spices...and I still have a ginger taste. I really enjoyed this beer. Appearance is marked down because brownish gold comes nowhere near mahogany! Had the side of the bottle not said 'mahogany.....it would have received a higher score!

The aroma consists of roasted malts and some chocolate tinges. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied with little carbonation. The flavour is very similar to the 95% Cocoa Lindt chocolate.

341ml bottle
5.5% ABV
I tried this beer on May 26, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent reddish-brown colour with a thin white head, that was bubbly. The aroma was malty with some caramel and spicy hints, with a slight hoppy hint. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonationn, and a dry bitter finish. The flavour was full of citrusy and grapefruity hoppiness, with a little malty tinge. A very good beer, although I would have liked more of a hoppy aroma.

The flavour is very malty with some subtle sweetness at the start giving way to a twinge of bitter hops in the finish. Nothing offensive here, but not worth reaching for again.
