1907 | Rochefort Trappistes 10 | Belgium | Abbey Quadrupel | 4.8
Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 July 12, 2007
The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
330ml bottle
11.30% ABV
Bottled On: Unknown
$16.50
Unfortunately I can't rate it as high as the St. Bernardus Abt 12 I had last night. Maybe had I tried them in the reverse order things may have been different. Anyway, this poured a dark reddish-brown with a small head (the first contrast with SS). The head disappeared rather quickly. The aroma was very similar with robust bread and malt tones as well as plums. It felt great on the tongue with a full-bodied feel. As for the taste, I'm not sure where it failed when compared to the SB, but it just failed to measure up. Possibly the higher alcohol content which I noticed more in this brew. |

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 10 | Overall: 9 330ml
7.5% ABV
I tried this beer on May 14, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a nice reddish-brown with a thin white head that lingered. The aroma was sweet roasted malt, yeast, caramel and brown sugar. The mouthful was medium to full bodied with medium high carbonation. The flavour was slightly sweet, yeasty, malty, toffee with plums and spice. A very good beer. |

The beer pours a dark brown with a huge generous brown head that lasts and lasts. The aroma is very yeasty with some dark fruits and spices. The mouthfeel is full bodied with some mild carbonation. The flavour is very malty followed by some yeasty tones. A very good beer, but not as good as the '10' |

1910 | Rochester Mills Imperial Milkshake Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
7.5% ABV
Best Before: August 20, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 1, 2018
$3.49
The beer pours a solid dark brown colour with brown edges, and a thin creamy light brown cap. The aroma was roasted malt, milk chocolate and a hint of vanilla. The mouthfeel was full bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour was primarily roasted malt, with a hint of bitter chocolate. There is almost a maple type sweetness that isn’t maple, but I can’t really describe it. A solid effort. |

1911 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Blueberry Pancake) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 7, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 5, 2018
$3.49
The beer pours a translucent dark mahogany colour with brown edges and a fluffy brown cap that disappears quickly. The aroma right out of the can was blueberry pancakes with roasted malt, dark choclate, and coffee. The mouthfeel is very thin for a milk stout, as with a previous can, very soda-like in mouthfeel. Carbonation is average. The flavour is sweet blueberries, bitter chocolate and roasted malt. Again, not a good beer, but would make a decent soft drink. |

1912 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Chocolate Cheesecake) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.2
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 4, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 8, 2018
$3.49
The beer, when held up to a strong white light, pours a translucent dark brown colour with blackened edges. The head starts out very generous and is light brown, but quickly dissipates allowing the rest of the can to be poured. The first thing you smell is chocolate milk, the Sealtest variety, followed by weak roasted malts and coffee. As with the other stouts out of this box (only 1 more to go Thank God!) the mouthfeel is thin bodied, however unlike the others, this one is undercarbonated. The flavour is nothing like any chocolate cheesecake I would want to try. In fact, this tastes pretty close to a Yoo-Hoo soft drink. I think I may avoid Rochester Mills in the future. |

1913 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Crème de Menthe) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.3
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 6, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 3, 2018
$3.49
The beer, when held up to a strong white light, pours a translucent dark brown colour with blackened edges. There is very little to no cap to speak of, aside from a small brown island of bubbles. The two predominant aromas are alcohol (it’s only 4.5%) and mint. Closer inspection reveals roasted malt, chocolate, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is very thin, almost soda pop thin which goes along with being a translucent stout and quickly disappearing head. The flavour is very weak, almost watered down. There are weak hints of roasted malt and chocolate with a hint of mint. This did not make for a good beer, but would have made for a great soft drink. |

1914 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Holiday Latte) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.5
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 After reassessing the previous can, this beer pours like a dark cream soda, a translucent dark cherry red cream soda with brown edges. The head starts off huge and within a couple of seconds is left as an island of bubbles on the centre of the beer. The aroma is quite weak in this case. Weak notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. Certainly ‘thicker’ than the Crème de menthe. The flavour was one dimensional coming across as nothing more than roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. |

1915 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Toasted Marshmallow) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 6, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 10 ,2018
$3.49
The beer pours a translucent dark brown colour with blackened edges and a creamy brown head which clings to the sides of the chalice. The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, and weak hints of marshmallows. Kind of disappointing given how the aroma in the other cans was strong on the specialty flavours. The mouthfeel is weak bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, light notes of coffee and chocolate, and a little more marshmallow in the finish. I’m glad these are done! |

1916 | Rodenbach Alexander | Belgium | Flanders Red | 4.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 2018 Vintage
750ml bottle
5.6% ABV
Best Before: January 3, 2021
LCBO Outlet #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Summerhill)
December 6, 2019
$11.95
I had a chance to try a shot glass of the original Alexander many moons ago and it was quite good, but not enough to rate. The cork says this is a 2018 bottle. It pours a beautiful translucent cherry red with a tan coloured cap and plenty of bubble to keep that cap alive. Aroma is vinegar, cherries, wood, and yeast. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with above average carbonation, and a ‘dry’ mouthfeel as well. Flavour starts off with sweet cherry notes, before giving way to tart cherries, vinegar, and burnt wood. The burnt wood flavour lingers on long afterwards. This beer is dangerously VERY drinkable. |

The aroma was wood, cherries, with some other tartness. The mouhfeel was ligh-medium bodied with heavy carbonation. The flavour was quite complex with some tart cherry up front, and sweet malt tones in the finish. An excellent beer. |

The aroma was extremely hoppy. A lot of floral perfumey hints such as pine, and grapefruit. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied, fairly carbonated, and bitter. The flavour was divine. Almost like my morning grapefruit in beer form. My first Rogue beer, and it didn't disappoint. |
