1851 Railway City Dragon Berry Pilsner Canada Bohemian / Czech Pilsener 2.8

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

500ml draught
4.4% ABV
I tried this beer on March 18, 2011 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a clear pale gold with a this white ring for a head. The aroma was grainy malt, floral hops, sour cream, and weak fruits. The mouthfeel was meddium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was grainy malt, milk, weak hops, ad a hint of sweet fruit. The 'milky' aroma and taste is a turn off!

The aroma is very citrusy, grapefruit in particular with hints of light spices and grass. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is more grass than citrus with a bitter citrusy hop finish. Enjoyable.

750ml bottle swing top bottle
5.0% ABV
King/Spadina LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
December 14, 2012
Beer pours a mahogany colour with a thin tan ring for a head. Aroma is nutty malt, caramel, and weak hops. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour has the honey in it, some tart fruit notes, along with some grass and a weak bitter finish. Not bad, but I wouldn't try it a second time.

500ml bottle
4.3% ABV
Queen's Quay LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
November 10, 2010
The beer poured a translucent red-hued golden colour with almost no head. An alright beer, but nothing spectacular.

473ml can
6.8% ABV
Canned On: October 7, 2021
LCBO Outlet #649 (Milton, Ontario, Canada - Sobey's Plaza)
January 21, 2022
$3.55
The beer pours a dark gold colour with a thick rocky off-white head which lasts a few minutes. Lacing is prevalent down the sides of the glass. The aroma is grainy malts, yeast, and citrusy hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is malted grains, caramel, and citrus. The new recipe is slightly better than the old recipe in my opinion…..but what do I know about beer?

1857 Railway City Orange CreamsicAle Canada Cream Ale 2.4

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

473ml can
4.8% ABV
Canned On: February 28, 2019
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
Gift
The beer pours a hazed orange gold colour with a thin white film for a head. There appears to be pulp in the film. The aroma is grains, light yeast, oranges, and weak spicy hops. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is watered down orange juice with some alcohol in the mix. This is nothing like the CreamSicles I enjoyed as a kid. I am very disappointed.

There is mild effervescence. The aroma is cereal malt, light corn, and musty hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is malty with a hint of saltiness. Goes down easily but not something I would drink regularly

1859 Railway City Sham-Bock Canada Bock 3.4

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

330ml draught
6.8% ABV
I tried this beer on draught on March 9, 2012 at "c'est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer was poured a translucent dark burgundy colour with a thin white ring of a head. Aroma was sweet fruits like plums with hints of caramel, molasses, and grains. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is sweet and fruity...almost fruity enough to be a turnoff. Flavour has similarities to their Dragonberry pilsner. It's certainly a sham if you ask me.

The aroma is citrus, wheat, cloves, yeast, and grass. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is wheat, pepper, yeast, and cloves. I like it, quite refreshing and would make a great summer session beer.

1861 Railway City Twice Checked Canada Porter 3.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 7

473ml can
5.20% ABV
Canned On: November 6, 2018
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
November 12, 2018
$3.69
Only 6 days old, the freshest beer I’ve had from the LCBO in forever! The beer pours a coca-cola brown with a fluffy light brown cap which quickly devolves to a rocky film. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, cherries and anise. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, creamy, and average carbonation. The flavour is not very b itter for a porter with the sweetness of the cherries cutting through the bitterness of the roasted malt and coffee flavours. This is the best Railway City beer I’ve tried in years.

1862 Rainhard Brewing Dark Fire Canada Stout 3.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

340ml Draught
7.0% ABV
C’est What? (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
December 14, 2018
$7.30
The beer pours a solid black colour with a medium brown creamy head. The peppery aroma of the scotch bonnets hits you right away before noting that there are also notes of roasted malt, coffee and bourbon. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is hot and spicy with the peppery notes up front, and notes of bourbon, coffee and chocolate in the finish. The description lists chocolate and coconut but my palate detects no coconut and very little chocolate, nonetheless a very well done beer.

The finish is bitter, but weak.

Plenty of microbubbles keeping the head alive. The aroma is bread, melons, citrus, light pine hints, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. There is a definite flavour punch with strong citrus flavours up front, some grainy malt in back, and more bitter citrusy hops on the finish. Very enjoyable.

The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, and that soy sauce note. No noticeable chocolate aromas for this one. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is balanced between the coffee and nutty malty notes. There is a hint of some sweetness, but it is not very strong.

The aroma is bready grains, lots of orangy citrus notes, and yeast. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is not to my liking. It tastes like a weak iced tea with cereal malts mixed in. A bit overpriced at $3.15 for a 355ml can if you ask me (and you may not be aware of it…but you did ask!)
