Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 June 4, 2022
LCBO Outlet #649 (Milton, Ontario, Canada - Sobey's Plaza)
473ml can
11.6%
Canned On: February 8, 2022
$5.25
The beer pours a slightly hazed orange gold colour with plenty of effervescence and a thin off-white cap. The aroma is grassy malt, light citrus, weak apple notes, caramel, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is dominated by sweet notes of alcohol with hints of caramel and citrus in back. Could have been a lot better. |

852 | Flying Monkeys Sparklepuff | Canada | Imperial IPA | 3.5
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 473ml can
10.2% ABV
Canned On: March 21, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
April 12, 2019
$4.95
This is a chunky pour. The colour is medium gold, more murky than hazy, with a huge white head which recedes to a creamy film. The aroma is very peachy with notes of grass, light spices, and tropical fruits. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The first thing I taste is alcohol, followed by bitter citrus ring, grass, and finally the peaches come through in the finish. I want to like it, but the alcohol bitterness is hanging around too long. |

853 | Flying Monkeys SuperCollider Double IPA | Canada | Imperial IPA | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 650ml bottle
10.5% ABV
I tried this beer on October 22, 2011 after purchasing from the Yonge/Wellesley LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent rusty red colour with a very thin tan coloured cap. The aroma was overwhelmingly grapefruity hops, although after a while, some sweet malty hints poked through. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied, somewhat 'chewy' with medium carbonation. The flavour was similar to the aroma with the sweet caramellish notes a little more prevalent among the grapefruit flavours. |

854 | Flying Monkeys The Chocolate Manifesto Triple Chocolate Milk Stout | Canada | Imperial Stout | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750ml bottle
10.0% ABV
King/Spadina LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
February 19, 2014
The beer pours a solid black colour with a generous frothy dark brown head that lasts a few minutes. The aroma is a wake me up blast of coffee and chocolate nibs as well as dark fruit (think chocolate covered raspberries). The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is well balanced between sweet chocolate, dark fruit, roasted malt, and licorice. Rich and decadent, and maybe too much so. |

The aromas are grains, tropical fruits, yeast, and steamed vegetables. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is tart fruity notes, grains, and a light yeasty aftertaste. Not a favourite by any stretch. |

859 | Flying Monkeys Wonderstar Botanical Lager | Canada | Light / Lite Lager | 2.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Canned On: July 2, 2019
LCBO Outlet #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
August 9, 2019
$3.35
A gift from Martin Sanders. The beer pours a clear metallic gold colour with a huge generous white foamy head. There is little to no effervescence. The aroma is dominated by grainy malt, weak yeast notes, and some earthy hops. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is strange. The grainy malt notes are there, but also notes of lemon furniture polish. This is not a good flavour for beer (or any beverage for that matter). The grassy aftertaste lasts several minutes. |

861 | Folly Heist | Canada | Wild Ale | 2.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
5.0% ABV
Canned On: July 7, 2020
LCBO Outlet #649 (Milton, Ontario, Canada - Sobey's Plaza)
December 7, 2020
$3.75
The beer pours a hazed straw gold colour with a generous whire fluffy head which doesn’t last, but leaves a load of lacing around the rim. The aroma is tart citrus, stale cereal grains, and vinegar. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is no where as tart as the aroma would suggest. There is a battle between the sweet and tart fruit notes, and the bitterness of the hops shines a bit more. |

872 | Fosters Lager | Australia | Pale Lager | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 September 22, 1987
Gift
355ml bottle
5.0% ABV
$0.00
Brewed in Canada by the Carling O'Keefe Brewing Company
As Paul Hogan used to call it, 'The Golden Throat Charmer' and 'Australian for Beeya'.

First off, this tastes best very cold. This pours a beautiful golden colour with an offwhite head that sticks around. It has a nice hoppy aroma that I find distinctive. It dances on the tongue with some mild carbonation that isn't overpowering that winds into a crisp lager-y feel. The taste is crisp and clean with some malty tones and tastes great (and filling). It does have one hell of an aftertaste that takes some getting used to. This was my beer of choice in the late 80s and early 90s, and I still visit it every now and then (like this afternoon).

When I originally tried this it was brewed in Canada by Carling O'Keefe Brewing Company under license from Elder's Brewery in Australia. Elders eventually gave a huge sum of money to Molson Brewing Company to buy Carling O'Keefe (with some money from the Miller Brewing Company). When I did my Ph.D in Tennessee, I saw Foster's in the supermarket..............it was brewed by Molson in Canada (and distributed in Reston, Virginia). |

The aroma is pine, tropical fruit, cereal grains, caramel and earthy hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is not very well balanced. There is a hint of sweetness from the caramel and tropical fruit notes, but for the most part, this is a very bitter beer. |
