The aroma is very grainy with little hint of grain or hops. Not impressed so far.. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is very metallic with hints of rye and herbal hops, unfortunately not the 'spicy' rye I prefer. Like the beer I had earlier, this is not something I would try again. |

705 | DeuS (Brut Des Flandres) | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 750ml bottle
11.5% ABV
2006 Year
Smokeless Joe (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
December 30, 2008
The beer poured a translucent pale brown with a bubbly, effervescent head that was fed by a constant stream of effervescence in the Deus flute. The aroma was earthy and yeasty with some citrusy hints in the mix. The mouthfeel was very light, and highly carbonated. The flavour was very malty and yeasty. No hint of alcohol in the taste, but I felt it in the head. Being 11.5%, I was expecting a far sweeter taste but was pleasantly surprised. I have to admit, at $51.95 before taxes, I would have hoped for elixer of the Gods. |
