302 | Big Rock Grasshopper Wheat Ale | Canada | American Wheat | 2.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 August 7, 1997
Gift
341ml bottle
5.0% ABV
$0.00
A beer for a summer vacation, and one of the earliest 'craft' beers I tried. This beer had an aroma that reminded more of rye than wheat. It was a nice golden colour when poured. It is smooth to the tongue and is smooth tasting. I would certainly recommend this beer to somebody wanting to try a decent wheat beer without paying through the nose. |

303 | Big Rock The Darcy's Poolside Grapefruit Lager | Canada | Light / Lite Lager | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.0% ABV<bv> Best Before: January 20, 2020
LCBO Outlet #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
November 28, 2019
$2.60
The beer pours a translucent shiny yellow with a short-lived bubbly white head and plenty of effervescence. The aroma is very “Wink” like (for those who don’t know, Wink was a grapefruit flavoured soft drink in the 1970s and 80s) with some weak grains. No real hops that I can discern. The mouthfeel is light bodied, with average carbonation. The flavour is quite grainy, not a lot of grapefruit to be found. Still, add Alcool to a bottle of Wink, and this is the resulting child! |

Decent aroma, but nothing to write home about. Slightly malty. The colour was an almost reddish colour. It felt 'perky' on the tongue, but the favour didn't thrill me. |

The frothy white cap lasts a while and laces beautifully. Aroma is wheat, citrus, light spices, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is bitter citrus peel, some fruit notes, yeast, and weak spices. One gets the “IPA” more than the “White” in this one. |

312 | Black Bellows Hops! Belgo-New England IPA | Canada | Belgian Ale | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
6.3% ABV
Canned On: January 10, 2019
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
March 17, 2019
$3.75
A blend of American and Belgian brewing styles for this year’s Saint Me day beer. It pours a hazed medium gold colour with a generous foamy off-white head which lasts throughout. The aroma is very yeasty, definitely a Belgian influence here, followed by notes of tropical citrus juices, and a hint of biscuit malts. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. First thing I taste is pine resing, which gives way to some grain notes, followed by some tropical fruit juice flavours, almost similar to ‘Five Alive’. Still not a fan of these juice bombs…..I want beer, not breakfast juice! |

The aroma is light spices, citrus, yeast, and wheat. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation….more full than most witbiers. The flavour is wheat, spices, almost peppery spices, yeast, and citrus. This is the best Ontario witbier I have had in a while. |

The aroma was fresh bread, toffee, and herbs....but nothing citrusy. The mouthfeel was light to medium bodied with less than average carbonation. The flavour was awful...to put it mildly. Hints of caramel at the start, followed by notes of dirty water, with a bitter metallic finish. No lemon in the taste for me either. Not one to buy again. |
