51 Zauber Brewing Myopic Red United States Altbier 3.5

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Pours a red to brown color with a good head with nice retention to finish! Typical Alt appearance. The aroma is bready character with hint of caramel. The taste is biscuity with slight caramel melting through the background. Strong bitter backbone - but balanced with malty undertone. Clean finish attenuates nicely with slight bitter back throat. The mouthfeel is smooth and easy to drink. Medium body.

52 Long Trail Brewing Double Bag United States Altbier 3.1

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

Pours a clear reddish amber with a skiff of beige head that doesn’t amount to much; finally settles to a thin (but consistent) film. Okay retention; good lacing. The aroma has some slight beer sourness with some strong caramel malt notes. Simple and straightforward. The taste is of strong malt up front with a hearty hop backbone. Cherries, earthy hop flavors, biscuity malt, and a touch of burnt almost chocolate sweetness at the finish. The mouth feel is light bodied with a lingering but not stifling finish and a good level of carbonation.

pours a pale reddish color, going on the side of copper but with a ruddy hue. The head is nearly pure white and small, and what lacing is left is spotty and somewhat lazily on the glass. The aroma has a good balance of malty and hoppy, while breads and caramel mingle with mild hops bitterness, mostly floral. The mouth feel is crisp and light in the body with moderate carbonation.

57 Homestead Tenpenny Ale United States Amber Ale 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

pours a mostly clear amber color with a small off white head that sticks around for a while. There's also a good amount of lacing. The aroma consists of caramel malt, stone fruit and some grassy/piney hops. The taste is similar to the aroma, but I also pick up some bready malt too. The mouth feel is medium bodied, smooth and very easy to drink with low to moderate carbonation. I thought this was a solid amber ale, I'd buy this again. This is the first Homestead beer I've tried, and I'll make a point to try their other beers when I come across them.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

a cloudy medium amber with a huge white pillow of a head. Very lively pour due to the bottle conditioning. The aroma is of rich malt and spices dominate with hints of yeast. The taste is subtle, maybe even subdued. All the flavors from the aroma are there but muted. A little bitterness from the hops engages on the finish. The mouth feel is just right, not too heavy, but not too thin either.

pours a copper orange in color, completely translucent, pretty strong internal carbonation, pours a small white foamy head with lots of lacing. The aroma is not incredibly fragrant, light citrus, tropical fruits, a little sweet and sour, even some fresh apple to finish. The taste begins a bit sour, then transitions to a light citrus, some mild hop flavor, a bit weak in terms of intensity, but still well balanced and drinkable. The mouthfeel is very smooth, light citrus aftertaste, not drying or overpowering. Overall a smooth and mild red, nothing too exciting, but certainly smooth and decent tasting
