Batch #1 bottle for $75?
I went to their tasting room today and was happy to see that they offered about 2 dozen vintage bottles for consumption on site. Obviously they don't want people buying up the old stuff and reselling them. I got a bottle of 2009 Michael and 2009 Matt, along with a fresh pour of Doggie Claws today.
The bartender said the owner sometimes goes through storage and pulls out these old beers. They happen to have some of he original Batch #1 of Adam. I'm not sure, but that might be as old as 1993. It's going for $75, and I was really tempted to buy it. What do you guys think? I've never paid anything near that for a beer, although I've paid more for wine. Adam is a great beer from a great brewery, and I'm leaving Oregon in a few weeks LOL. By the way, the Matt beer rocked my mittens off. It was like drinking a Westy 12 but with a label.

I've only had one version of Adam but it was so good I wouldn't have thought twice about spending 75 bones for the original.

you got a bottle of Matt, thats all i saw.. that stuff is fuckin insane!
LOL, yeah I just rated it a 4.5! Would have been much higher if it didn't seem to be lacking carbonation. Did you really pay $100 for your bottle of Matt?

I think I annoyed the brewery staff when I said it was only worth about $25 after my first few sips. I heard the bartender telling the two other workers what I said haha. So anyway, the beer held up surprisingly well. It even had some carbonation on the pour. They gave me a tasted if the current Adam to compare, as well as show me the differences in the bottle design. This original batch actually has a gold foil cap, the colors are different, it says Adambier, and the hop graphics are a little more plain. The beer was super mellow compared to a new sample and huge on dark fruit. I savored the beer for probably an hour and a half. I took the bottle home. Also took some pics.

i liked but didn't love this beer, but based on this thread, i'm going to have to revisit. HOTD has grown on me quite a bit in the last couple years.
