Wartburger Hof, in the German-style town of Wartburg, is situated in the KZN Midlands 30km outside Pietermaritzburg, the capital of KwaZulu-Natal. Founded in 1890 by Lutheran missionaries, the architectural and interior design of Wartburger Hof gives the impression of a typical Bavarian country hotel. Here is found the WARTBURGER BREW HOUSE, where Siggi Schadle, a born and bred Bavarian, together with Swiss-born Max Haller, brew beer according to the German purity law, learnt from the German specialists who trained them.
