The Veteran Beer Company is dedicated to providing lives of quality for military Veterans through the creation of meaningful post-service careers. The company will produce, sell and deliver beers of superior quality, striving to employ Veterans in every role within the organization and the supply chain while adhering to the highest principles of military service, conducting business with integrity, courage, and loyalty. Vision The Veteran Beer Company is committed to being a preeminent beverage manufacturing company inspired by the highest traditions and principles of the United States military and dedicated to the comprehensive transformation, achievement and growth of its 100% Veteran employee force in a diverse and accepting community. Executive Summary Over the next five years it is estimated that national unemployment will remain steady at or near levels approaching 10%. Veteran unemployment is expected to exceed non-Veteran unemployment by a factor of two to one over the same period as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan draw to a close and the as hundreds of thousands of Veterans of those conflicts return home to an economy still burdened by slow-to-stagnant growth. Disabled Veteran unemployment and homelessness is expected to rise over the same period, and remain higher than 50% (unemployment) to the horizon of reliable economic and labor forecasting. Current data places disabled Veteran unemployment in excess of 80%. In 2012, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans committed suicide at a shocking rate of 22 every day. The data above serves as the impetus for creating a business that maximizes Veterans’ experience by providing meaningful and profitable careers in an environment that capitalizes their training, discipline, self-reliance, teamwork, and ability to overcome adversity. Through the economic crisis of the last five years, the domestic beverage alcohol industry— specifically, the beer industry—has been stable relative to most other market segments, enduring a loss of roughly 1.5% of manufactured volume over the five-year period as compared to the double-digit average volume decline across all major domestic manufacturing segments. The domestic beverage alcohol industry is responsible both directly and indirectly for hundreds of thousands of jobs in the United States. According to the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS), the jobs directly connected to the manufacture, sale and distribution of beverage alcohol fall statistically into the top third of all industry segments in terms of pay and benefits. Though there is no known study that confirms it, there is no reason to believe Veteran representation within the ranks of the beverage alcohol industry is currently any higher than in other industries. Recent public opinion surveys indicate that there has never been a group, a brand, or an entity with a higher sustained favorable rating than “United States military Veterans” circa 2012. This record popularity and public approval of Veterans has spawned an intense domestic marketing campaign across a broad spectrum of industries that endeavors to exploit the Veteran brand for commercial gain. The beverage alcohol industry has done more than its share of such marketing, attempting to make corporate connection to the popularity of Veterans in the minds of consumers. The Veteran Beer Company will create, manufacture, market, sell and distribute superior, proprietary beverage products that have direct and meaningful connections to the experiences of serving in the armed forces. A portion (10%) of the proceeds from every product sold will be donated to a charitable foundation for distribution to military charities. The Veteran Beer Company has a goal of 100% Veteran employees in each of its three divisions: beer division, specialty items division, and the charitable foundation.
