Brewery founder Justin Hildebrand would probably be surprised if he knew what happened to his original very straightforward operation - he had his time in Pfungstadt started with only a handful of assistants to brew beer. Meanwhile Pfungstädter brewery now employs 165 employees, generating an annual beer output of 450,000 hl. To date it has managed the brewery, established as an independent company in the hands of founding families to stay, and despite the enormous concentration processes on the German and European markets brewery. The per capita beer consumption in Germany has declined significantly in recent years, many small and medium-sized breweries are being brought into financial difficulties and were bought by large brewing companies gradually. The Pfungstädter brewery has felt that pressure. But instead of thinking out of fear the owner families have always shown the courage to make the company succeed through investment and modernization even more competitive. Our present position as the largest private Hessian brewery shows that this was the right way. Without the trust placed in employees the Pfungstädter brewery would not have become what it is today: a highly successful economizing brewing company that purchases the ingredients from the region and offers its beers above all.
