OAO Afanasy-Pivo

In 1887 Emil Slatinsky (an Austrian national) found a steam brewery "Tverskaya Bavaria" on the bank of the river Tvertsa. The following beer brands were produced: "Chyornoye Barkhatnoye", "Dvoinoye zolotoye", "Bavarskoye", "Stolovoye", specially conditioned "Pilsenskoye" and "Lyubitelskoye", and fruit beverages. A new brewery in Tver (Kalinin) was built in the first half of the seventies of the 20th century. A pilot brew took place in January 1976 and on the 1st of April the first run of beer "Barkhatnoye" was made. The plant output was completely achieved by 1977. In 1992 the plant was transformed into a stock corporation, a closed joint-stock company "Firma Tver-Pivo". In 1998 an open joint-stock company "Afanasy-Pivo" was established. Its authorized capital was 80.200.000,00 rubles. The most famous beer brand produced by the plant was created in 1994 and was named "Afanasy" in honor of Afanasy Nikitin. On transforming into a stock corporation the company has begun to actively enlarge its product range. Such brands as "Afanasy light" and "Afanasy dark" were the first sign. These ones were bottled considering traditional consumer preferences and received most medals as compared to other brands brewed by the company. The Tver brewers had a ready answer to all requirements of the market. On basis of consumer demand surveys light low-density brands were created. These are "Dobroye light", "Tverskoye", "Zolotistoye". A brand "Dobroye semi-dark" was developed for the lovers of dark beer. In 2000 the plant began to produce "Porter", which won recognition already at exhibitions that took place that year. There is something to please the lovers of strong beer - new brands "Krepkoye" and "Dobroye Krepkoye". To date OAO "Afanasy-Pivo" brews 11 beer brands.
