North American Breweries is the national platform for investments and growth in the beer and malt beverages industries for KPS Capital Partners, LP. North American Breweries acquired Genesee Brewing Company, Labatt USA and a perpetual license for Seagram's Escapes from Pernod Ricard USA, LLC in 2009. The combination created the largest independently-owned beer company in the U.S. Headquartered in Buffalo, NY, Labatt USA markets and sells Labatt beer — imported daily from Canada. The Labatt USA products include the flagship pilsner Labatt Blue, as well as Labatt Blue Light, Labatt Ice, Labatt Max Ice, Labatt Heritage Series, Labatt 50, Labatt Select and Labatt Blue Non-Alcoholic. First brewed in 1951, Labatt Blue offers a clean, refreshing taste, light color, slight hop aroma, good balance, fruity character and a slightly sweet taste. A 2004 Gold Medalist in the World Beer Cup, Labatt Blue and Blue Light are the two top-selling Canadian imports in the United States. The Genesee Brewing Company, based in Rochester, New York, is one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in the United States. The brewery makes the historic Genesee line of brands, Seagram's Escapes, and Dundee Ales and Lagers family of craft brands. The Genesee Brewing Company also manufactures beer and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages under contracts on behalf of other companies.
