Horn meaning "hard" and "beam" was an old English word for tree. Hornbeam was traditionally used to heat the kilns that made the brown malt prior to brewing. Although hornbeam is not used in such a manner today, the same tried and tested traditional techniques are used by our brewers to produce the perfect balance of ingredients, creating a range of quality real ales bursting with aroma, flavour and bitterness. Hornbeam Brewery is family run and based in Denton's famous Hat Factory. The head brewer, Kevin Rothwell has had many years of brewing experience and has perfected the range of beers using the finest quality ingredients from both locally sourced and international suppliers.
