In 2012, after a three-month stint through Central America, our co-founders David and Cristina spent the year living in Panama. David, an avid homebrewer, was determined to keep up his craft while living abroad, despite the challenges in sourcing ingredients. That summer, the couple was introduced to alcoholic ginger beer and with easy access to the ingredients - ginger, sugar, citrus juice - David began brewing ginger beer one gallon at a time. Enjoyed straight or occasionally with a splash of Panamanian rum, David and Cristina fell in love with the gingery beverage and it soon became a staple in their household even after they moved back to the States. In 2013, David and Cristina began bringing their alcoholic ginger beer to homebrew festivals and quickly found they weren’t the only ones craving a lighter, vibrant beverage. After a few awards and a couple years of pursuing other projects, the couple finally decided to take the leap in 2015 and officially incorporated Ginger’s Revenge. In between the real estate search, construction, and permitting, it took about two years to get the doors to the brewery open. Ginger’s Revenge officially opened in March 2017 and now employs eighteen team members. Our ginger beer has come a long way from one-gallon batches. Now brewed in batches of 472 gallons at a time, our ginger beer is distributed to over 550 locations across North Carolina.
