Welcome to the Galena Brewing Company, located on Main St. in Galena, Illinois. With a rich history in brewing, Galena makes the perfect spot to enjoy a cold crafted brew. The Galena Brewing Company has brought back a long-lost tradition to Galena. In the late 1800s, when Galena was a boom town due to the mining of the mineral galena (lead ore), and its access to the great Mississippi River for transportation and shipping purposes, brewing and beer were a major commodity. Galena once had more breweries per capita than any other place in the nation. Our breweries competed with the giants in brewing, located in Chicago and Milwaukee. Then along came prohibition and brewing was banned, leading to the demise of the beer industry in Galena. Thankfully we are no longer under the restrictions of the prohibition era and are free to enjoy a Galena-brewed beer once again. Enjoy our premium craft beers!
