As the highest brewery in England, it’s no surprise that Dartmoor Brewery is home to some exceptional ales packed with flavour and character. From the original and famous Jail Ale (a name inspired by the brewery’s proximity to the infamous Dartmoor Prison), to the bright and hoppy Dartmoor IPA, the wild and rugged moors of Devon are the inspiration. We started life quite literally at the back of a pub – the Prince of Wales in Princetown – before moving to new purpose-built premises nearby as demand for Jail Ale soared. The Dartmoor Brewery family of traditional ales can be enjoyed at great pubs across Devon and, increasingly, further afield. Bottled Dartmoor ales are available from local and national stockists, and for delivery to your doorstop from our online shop. Each of our beers celebrates traditional, natural brewing techniques using the finest English malts, superb hops, fresh Dartmoor water and a unique blend of yeasts for a classic English ale experience. Dartmoor Brewery is an independent Devon business, under the same local ownership as the award-winning Two Bridges Hotel in the heart of Dartmoor, and The Bedford Hotel in Tavistock.
