Copp Winery, Inc. opened its doors to the public in June 2007, as both a winery and wine bar. As such, Copp Winery is able to produce high quality wines and offer them for sale by both the bottle and glass at their Crystal River Florida location. All wines are hand-crafted on premises by Donna Copp, who has more than a decade of winemaking experience. But there was something missing. Many friends, family and neighbors had tasted and fell in love with the high quality craft beers Fran Copp had been producing at home for years. In November 2011, Copp Winery was granted a brewpub license by the state and received federal approval in March 2012. It was the first and ONLY winery in the State of Florida to hold such distinction! This allowed Copp to open a micro brewery to produce high quality beers and offer them for sale by the glass at their Crystal River Florida location. All beers are hand-crafted on premises by Fran Copp, brew master extraordinaire. On May 3, 2012, during a gathering of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce's Next Generation Professionals, the taps were opened, the first beers poured and in the picturesque City of Crystal River, County of Citrus, State of Florida, history was made as that first ice cold beer flowed through the taps into a glass. Florida's first and only winery/brewpub was open! It wasn't long before word and popularity spread. In April 2013, Copp Winery and Brewery upgraded its brewpub license to a full brewery license, one of only two wineries in the State of Florida to hold such distinction and the only licensed brewery in Citrus County! This enables Copp to sell and fill growlers with their craft beer so patrons can enjoy that fresh from the tap taste at home. Now there is a place where you can enjoy a glass of the finest hand-crafted wine or beer, or both, and mingle with old friends and new. And there is a place where you can buy a bottle or two of wine or a growler or two of beer, or both, to enjoy at home or share with family and friends. Life is too short - stop in and enjoy it!
