In June 2006, Carlsberg invested in a new brewery in Tashkent together with the local partner Sarbast Plus. In July 2007 the brewery started shipments of its first local brand " Sarbast " meaning " free or independent " in ancient Uzbek. The initial planned capacity of the plant is on million hectoliters per annum.
