HIGHWAYMEN. For this batch of our most favorite style, we used locally sourced Sinagua malt and then filled our new and improved Highwaymen in a delicious mix of Indiana Rye and Kentucky Bourbon barrels (Jim Beam + Makers Mark) and forgot about it for a year. This one is bursting with brown sugar goodness and a perfectly round barrel character, not too hot, not too faint. It'll hold up well in cans for years to come.

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9

Rated April 2019. Pint can pours with murky brackish deep copper to mahogany colored body that supports a short lived tan head of foam. The aroma initially pulses with plums, dates and raisins. It later creates a thin cloud to include a sense of oak spiced bourbon and spicy rye. The taste delivers plums and figs rolling quickly into tootsie roll and then a modest layer of bourbon, booze, spicy oak and then spicy rye. Toward the finish the oak offers up a mild vanilla sensation then ending in a thin tootsie roll like candy sweetness. The spicy rye and oak provide ample balance up against the various fairly rich sweeter notes. Nice sipper.
