Compass Barrel is the first release of our new Cactus Catalogue featuring blends of our finest barrel aged beers. This beer is a straight 50/50 blend of Who Hit John and Highwayman both aged independently in Heaven Hill whiskey barrels. The barrel character is front and center with rounding flavors of vanilla and caramel from the rich malts used.

Rated June 2017. 22oz bomber pours with a mohagony colored body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up roasted malts, a dash of chocolate and then booze blended with pears and apricot. The taste is similar with roasted malts, chocolate malts, smooth subtle bourbon booze and some thin oak. This is pretty solid with lingering oak and malt roastiness.
