We couldn’t stand the idea of going nine months without our Winter Warmer, so we decided to hold some in reserve. Bourbon Barrel Winter Warmer is aged in three-year-old Buffalo Trace barrels to add hints of oak and bourbon to our Winter Warmer’s already complex taste. After aging our 2008 World Beer Cup Silver Award-winning Winter Warmer in bourbon barrels for six month, Bourbon Barrel Warmer will be released in 22oz bottles in late April.

Big thanks to jdubFL for sharing this beauty. Pours clear copper with half inch tall tan head. The aroma is spicy with a touch of tartness, mild sweet malts and caramel. The taste is sweet with smooth bourbon, some sweet malts, vanilla, spicy hops and then somewhat growing booziness that never gets out of hand. Smooth stuff that’s sweet yet has a nice hop and barrel component too.

Their original Winter Warmer was pleasant enough, this barrel aged version adds the typical woody, vanilla and bourbon influences however the base beer doesn't seem quite bold enough to showcase the bourbon.
