We added Applewood smoked bacon and coffee to our barleywine base, created in collaboration with our friends at 3 Chiefs, along with a touch of vanilla to sweeten things up. Poured up on tap at Tipsy where it exhibits a deep dark mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up soft bourbon oak, molasses drizzled dates and prunes and then mild booze infused caramel. The taste delivers a smooth slick rich blend of smooth supple boozy bourbon flowing into sweet dark fruity esters that are full of dates and prunes. Nice. Toward the finish modest levels of kettle caramelization and booze murmurtothesurface. Great sipper, this. Damn.
