Mottled dark brown body with ruby highlights. Thin head and some streaks of lacing. Rich, malty and smooth. Medium bodied with a faded robustness. Caramel and maple candies, earthy and woody with a touch of roast. Sticky sweet aftertaste. Not sure when this came out, but it felt like it had already crested the hill. Very nice, but nothing that grabbed ahold of me.

just reading the label, i almost ruined my new shorts, i was a bit excited .. . deep gold tan .. great foam .. . light wood, maple, earth, and day old struck match .. . solid finish but so wanted to enjoy this more, a really good beer, just nothing earth shattering .. . . Now he's the love-matic Grampa!

seems like the smoke character comes out more in the aroma and flavor with a little age. maple and smoke are a nice touch, everything else takes a bac seat. sweet flavor of dark fruit, chocolate, maple and smoke. medium bodied, full flavored.

Sampled on 9/2/2011, This American Strong Ale pours a dark brown color with nice reddish highlights from a 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized beige head, with nice lacing and good retention. The aroma is maple, caramel, touch of oak and sweet. A medium to full bodied American Strong Ale. The malts are fruity, sweet and caramel. The hops are earthy and herbal. Nicely balanced. Very smooth tasting. The maple, oak, and brown sugar are all in play here. There are also hints of raisins, wood, chocolate and vanilla. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
