Fruet is our fourth anniversary ale. It is the same recipe as Papier and our other anniversary ales, and again was created using the Solera method. Each year we will continue to blend old barrels of anniversary ale with a new batch of the same beer, adding an additional layer of complexity that will grow over time as we continue to age and blend with each anniversary, creating an older average age to the ale. This year, for the first time, we are ONLY offering the 100% bourbon barrel aged version of our anniversary ale. It has taken us four years to work up our capacity enough to do this and we are extremely happy about this offering.

HUGE. What is that...fig? Loads of brown sugar. Pours dark brown with an offwhite ringlet. Tons of dark fruit, whisky, it's smooth, it's sweet, and definitely a sipper. Kind of like a blue chimay and a JW Lees mixed together.

i'll be curious about these anniversary blends, as each blend has an older and older component to it. seems like the abv is rising as well, this one at a whopping 15.5%! While an outstanding beer, I still think these would be better served toned down a bit. Oh well...15.5 it is. Great looking bottle and pour, good carbonation and nice feel for the abv, though a little hot. Smells and tastes of vanilla, bourbon, caramel, slight roasted malt, and dark fruit. Very nice sipper, but pretty damn expensive too. I wish they still did the partially barreled and the fully barreled blend to compare, but whatrya gonna do?
