Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7
Pours a nice clear chestnut with a fairly thick and frothy buff head. Strong aroma has a malty core and notes of caramel, sweet fruit and clove. Flavor is strong but doesn’t hide the alcohol bite that lets you know this is a badass high-grav beer. Sweet malt and caramel dominate, but let snips of clove and apple through. Texture is fairly firm, fairly fizzy, leaving a sweet yet edgy alcohol finish. Gotta love the Japanese - they make great beer, better cars. (And yet, after donating my ancient Honda Accord to charity, I bought a new FORD!)
