Draught @ The Trenython Manor, Tywardreath, Cornwall.

Not too proud of the fact that my very first beer while in England was this particular offering -- it was the only thing worth a crap at the hotel resturant/bar at the Trenython Manor. And I wouldn't call this a truly horrible beer per se..., I can say that it's easily the lamest of the entire St Austell Brewing line-up of beers.

Fairly dark for a bitter, with a rather muted nose, and thin mouthfeel. Taste-wise, not horrible, but not all that interesting either. Some estery-ness here and there, but not enough to give this beer much character. Seemed quite empty to me, if that makes any sense....

Not even sure what the point of this beer is. St. Austell makes some really nice cask-conditioned Real Ales -- why bother with seperate production facilities to produce this sub-par Keg beer?

IMO, this is not a good example of Cornish Ale, nor English Bitter in general...
