Deep amber in color with an off-white full head, this has a complex malt palate from five different malts with subtle spice notes enhanced by the finesse of the Trappist yeast. The beer finishes with balancing and pleasing hop notes from East Kent Goldings.

maybe a bit old. an oddly sweet metalic scent. dark brown. medium bodied and sweet. touch of sour in the flavor with little belgian. a bit of a mess of flavors. i'm not a big fan of bison, and this definitely doesn't change that.

Sampled on 8/28/2010. This Scottish ale pours a very dark amber red color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is sweet and malty, a touch of smoke and peat. A medium bodied Scottish ale. The malts are fruity, cereal, dark fruit, raisins and a touch of peat/smoke. The hops are herbal. Mild carbonation. The beer is somewhat sweet and the Belgian yeast influence is evident. The yeasts mix well with the peat and really influences the flavor of the beer. Very nice sipping beer, it’s a little on the sweet side, but very acceptable, Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
