ØLFABRIKKEN SORTØL (Black-beer) is our interpretation of an age old Belgian beer style. This ale is pitch-black without being roasted as a porter. The mild flavor of coffee and liquorice is the result of a cold-water extract of burned rye. The flavor is deep and complex with nuances of caramel from, among other things, raisin syrup and Muscovado cane sugar. Two types of Belgian yeast has been used, providing peppery and vinous nuances supported by exotic spices. Serve it with rabbit with raisins, herbs and mushrooms stewed in Sortøl. Ølfabrikken Sortøl is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers. Available in keg and bottle.

Bottled. Quite much black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is slightly toasted, has some liquorice, spices, herbs and mild dark dry fruits. Mild coffee as well when it warms up a bit. Flavour is quite much the same, but with the coffeeish notes kicking in a bit more sour. Overall still quite sweetish.
