For our 3rd Anniversary, we pay homage to Thomas Hardy Ale, a beer for the ages and for aging. An English-style Barleywine aged a full year in Del Bac whiskey casks on sherry yeast. This rich, unctuous, alcoholic delight tastes of dates rolled in dark sugars and soaked in brandy. We advise laying this one down in your beer cellar. Don’t have a beer cellar? Start one! Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 9

12oz bottle pours with a murky amber mahogany colored body that supports a thin white ring of bubbles. The aroma offers up molasses, plum, fig, raisin, brown sugar and near robust levels of boozy brandy. The taste delivers smooth booze enhanced plum, fig and raisin like sweet fruity esters flowing into sweet molasses and boozy brandy. To midway it becomes a little tangy with sherry and plum candy like notes. This is a solid sipper but seems a little too treatment forward being the only tiny issue with this beer.
