Brought by the brewer to our holiday tasting, this was truly a stand out for me that evening. Exceptionally smooth and warming malt forward Barley Wine/Abbey Quad creation. This non-barrel aged version is strikingly similar to the La Trappe Quad which is not only a personal favorite, but coincidentally the beer this is modeled after. Dark berries and heavy fruits with lots of sweet toffee and candi sugar followed by a mild cereal and biscuit contribution. Near perfection, and perhaps would have warranted a perfect score if I was able to sit down with a larger glassful.
