The first bitter brewed at Highgate Brewery after a fifty-year period of brewing only mild and named after the local saddle making industry. This copper coloured ale is brewed using a blend of pale, crystal and amber malts and No.3 Invert block sugar. After fermentation the beer is primed using glucose syrup laced with block liquorice. Bitterness is provided by a combination of four hops, namely; Fuggle, Golding, Progress and Styrian Golding. Each cask is dry hopped with East Kent Golding at 2oz per barrel.
