Made to Celebrate Founders 15th Anniversary, Bolt Cutter Barley Wine is an American barley wine that pours deep copper color and is strong, sweet and malt-forward, with a spicy complexity. Typical of the style, it is very cellarable. The final product is a blend using beer that was aged in Bourbon barrels, some from aged maple syrup Bourbon barrels and some from standard fermentation. After blending, the beer was allowed to mature in bottles and kegs for a few months before releasing.

Big thanks to JPDurden24 for sharing this at the Annual Black Friday tasting, thanks Jon. Also a big thanks goes to the generous AshleySchaefer for trading me some Bolt Cutter in my time of need. I owe you Malcolm. So this big high shouldered 750mL bottle pours with a deep clear copper body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up pretty bold notes tossing up sugar candied pine resin that rolls into more of a citrus sensation of orange flavored hard candy and then a resiny grassiness at the end of the draw. The taste is similar with oddly sugary pine sap and then malt sweetened citrus hoppiness. This has loads of both flavor and bitter resiny hoppiness from front to back. Nice smooth bold rich stuff.

    750ml bottle from demmbonz, thanks
Clear golden/amber with a medium sized beige head and some lacing. Aroma was malty, brown sugar and woody. Flavors of malts, sugar, some hot alcohols and pine resin
    A nice BW

Pours clear mahogany with minimum head. Aroma has toasted malt, sweet caramel and boozy tones. Flavor provides toasted malt, caramel, woody hops, and an alcohol bite to remind you this is a badass brew. Texture offers peppy fizz and smooth, firm body. Cut the bolt!
